Italian cartoonist Pino Zac created several
comical card decks, but perhaps the one holding the
most appeal for tarot collectors is his
"Cartomancie de l'An 2000." Published in 1981, Zac
humorously extrapolated a vision of life on the
brink of the 21st century.
Amusing, satirical, and a bit "bawdy," it is
interesting to study Zac's deck with the benefit of
20-20 hindsight. For example, Zac selected a
computer to represent his "Devil" card -- an astute
choice, perhaps, but still rather dated by his use
of a mainframe with reel-to-reel tape data storage.
