Tarocco del Carnevale di Venezia

Considered by many to be among the
best of the 14 cartomantic decks
illustrated by Amerigo Folchi, the
Tarocco del Carnevale di Venezia
(Carnival of Venice Tarot) features
detailed characters and fully illustrated
pip cards, exploding in a riot of costume
and color.
K. Frank Jensen, in issue #7 of
Manteia (p. 10), had this to say
about Folchi's Venice cards:
"Tarocco del Carnevale di Venezia"
deals, of course, with the carnival
figures, the processions and the other
traditions that are connected with this
recurrent event. Even if there are
traditions that need to be described, the
artist is by far more free and the result
is splendid. The colours of the deck are
light and optimistic and the people
invading it are... generally the same
happy beings that started Folchi's tarot
journey."*

* In this
last statement, Jensen is referring to the
Tarocco della Felicita -- Folchi's
first, and often best-regarded,
deck.
