The Goose is Out

Designer(s), Artist(s): Swami Veet Bruco, Ma Prem Jagruti
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 110
Publication Year: 1982
Publication Status: Out-of-Print
Reference: Encyclopedia of Tarot, vol. III, pp. 252, 260-263

Description:
An eclectic mix of images, from Botticelli to Escher and beyond, make up the 110 cards of this unusual deck. The accompanying booklet describes the deck as 'a meeting between tarot and poker.' In fact, there is no correspondence between the cards of the 'Goose is Out' tarot and any 'standard' tarot, historical or modern. Interest in this deck among tarot collecctors may be largely due to its inclusion in Stuart Kaplan's 'Encyclopedia of Tarot,' vol. III. Nonetheless, the images are thought-provoking, and the card titles (given in the booklet, and not printed on the cards) are often weird and unusual, such as 'The sound of one hand clapping' and 'Sex as a plastic flower.' Published in 1982.
