Mibramig Magical Tarot

Designer(s), Artist(s): Mibramig
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 79
Publication Year: 2013
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
Artist Mibramig offers a completely absurdist version of the Waite-Smith Tarot, using anthropomorphic creatures in an exaggerated style. Each minor arcana suit is represented by various breeds of a different species: goats for Wands, dogs for Cups, monkeys for Swords, and birds for Pentacles. Utterly charming, although for readers, the sheer oddity of the illustrations is perhaps not well-suited for your average querent -- but it does include a "Happy Squirrel" card, for those who are in on the joke.

The 'Fantasy' variant contains 93 cards in a large-size cardboard flap-close box; overall publication quality is lower in the 'Fantasy' variant.

Miss Cleo's Tarot Power Deck

Designer(s), Artist(s): J.F. Lambert, Seth Stephens
Country of Publication: U.S.A.
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2001
Publication Status: Out-of-Print

Description:
Ah, the history and the notoriety! These decks were published in 2001, and arranged to be sold via exclusive agreement through Walgreen's, of all places. Unfortunately, shortly after they were distributed, the big "Miss Cleo" scandal hit, and Walgreen's immediately moved to distance themselves from it by returning every last one to the publisher. Since that time, they've been available only via the secondary market. That said, this isn't a bad deck. The artwork is okay, and the Egyptian theme, while quaint and not historically accurate, isn't offensive, and in fact, has some appeal. Better luck next time, Miss C.

Mona Lisa Tarot (Standard Edition)

Designer(s), Artist(s): Paolo Martinello
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2008
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
Surprisingly intriguing deck that provides a viewpoint from an alternate history (or universe). In Martinello's deck, Renaissance Florence is a place where the cult of the sacred female reigns supreme over the male-dominated church. The figure of Mona Lisa takes center stage on the cards as a symbol of the divine feminine. This is not just another "feminist deck"; the Mona Lisa Tarot offers a harmonious and productive look at one imaginable matriarchal society.
