The Enochian Tarot

Designer(s), Artist(s): Gerald Schueler, Betty Schueler, Sallie Ann Glassman
Country of Publication: U.S.A.
Number of Cards: 86
Publication Year: 2000
Publication Status: Out-of-Print
Reference: Manteia issue #2, p. 40

Description:
Arguably not a tarot, despite the name. Illustrated by the co-creator of the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot, the deck seeks to provide a tool for complimenting principles of Enochian magic. The cards are both titles and sequentially numbered 1 - 86. The first 30 cards might be considered "majors", with some of the cards having some correspondence to traditional tarot trumps. The remaining 56 cards -- the minors -- are "suited" as the four elements of Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. The titling and numbering, however, really bear no correspondence to the typical 1 - 10 + 4 Courts.

Esoteric Ancient Tarots

Designer(s), Artist(s): Etteilla
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 1996
Publication Status: Out-of-Print

Description:
Historical reproduction of a reproduction of Etteilla's famous "Egyptian" tarot. Published by Lo Scarabeo in 1996, this deck reproduces an Etteilla deck published in Paris in 1870 (decades after Etteilla's death). All the major arcana are there -- just don't expect them to be in the "usual" order as a modern tarot deck. Giant, sequential numbers appear at the top and bottom of each card, along with keyword interpretations for both upright and reversed orientations.

Estensi Tarot - Golden Tarot of the Renaissance

Designer(s), Artist(s): Giordano Berti, Jo Dworkin
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2004
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
The major arcana of this 78-card Lo Scarabeo deck are drawn from the illustrations of the so-called Charles VI Tarot. Artist Giodano Berti has interpreted and replaced the six cards missing from the original. The deck is then expanded to a full 78 cards, with Berti imagining what the minor arcana of such a deck might have looked like. The multi-lingual titles -- so prominent on many Lo Scarabeo decks -- are placed relatively unobtrusivley running up along the left-hand card borders.

Etruscan Tarot

Designer(s), Artist(s): Silvana Alasia, Riccardo Minetti

Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2002
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
The art of this deck is patterned after the style of the ancient Etruscans -- a pre-Roman tribe living in the area now occupied by modern-day Italy. The art is suitably antiqued, giving the appearance of the type of decorative illustration one might find on ancient pottery fragments.
