Transformational Tarot (U.S. Games Edition)

Designer(s), Artist(s): Arnell Ando
Country of Publication: U.S.A.
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2006
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
Re-release of Arnell Ando's highly sought-after Transformational Tarot, originally published by Ink Well Publishing in 1995. In this edition, published by U.S. Games Systems, the symbols have been removed from the borders, and replaced with words; for example, there are no astrological signs on the majors, and the stylized wand, cup, sword, and pentacle symbols are not present. A number of the cards have been changed entirely -- mostly those with more contemporary elements. Here, the collage images are largely comprised of classical elements, although the composition retains some of its multicultural roots.

The Transparent Tarot

Designer(s), Artist(s): Emily Carding
Country of Publication: U.S.A.
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2008
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
The Transparent Tarot offers a new and clever twist on the traditional deck: clear plastic cards with identifiable but sparse imagery printed thereupon. The design allows for three-dimensional readings, as cards can be placed on top of each other as well as adjacent. Alignment rules at the top and bottom of the cards, and staggered numbering in the borders allows the viewer to see exactly which cards are being overlaid. Probably not an ideal deck for beginners, but for experienced readers seeking new ways to break through old habits, this deck could be just the ticket. Use the button at right to see sample cards, plus an extra sample showing the result of three overlaid cards.

The Tarot of Trees (deck only)

Designer(s), Artist(s): Dana Driscoll
Country of Publication: U.S.A.
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2009
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
If you take the basics of the Waite-Smith deck, remove all the people, and put trees in their place -- you basically end up with this deck. Vibrant in its colors and elegant in its simplicity, Driscoll's deck is one of those decks that exudes a childlike simplicity without being childish or simplistic. For those who like smaller decks, the Tarot of Trees has the added advantage of being playing-card sized, in contrast to the usually-larger format of most tarots. The companion guidebook (see separate listing for deck/book set) is as clean and colorful as the cards themselves.
