Description:
Deck that expresses the tarot archetypes through ancient tribal imagery. The cards variously carry an African, Aboriginal, and Native American feel. The court cards have been renamed Man, Woman, Animal, and Child. The suits have also been renamed as Nature (Wands), Soul (Cups), Blood (Swords), and Jewels (Pentacles). Originally published as a majors-only (22 card) deck in Lo Scarabeo's 'Tarocchi d'Arte' series. Reissued in 2000 as a full 78 cards.

Description:
Inspired by the religion and mythology of the Yoruba people of west-central Africa, the Tarot of the Orishas features "saints" or supernatural beings referred to as "orixas" (or orishas). The major arcana has 25 cards; the four suits of the minor arcana do not feature court cards, making for 77 cards in all. Sort of "barely tarot", but with some nice parallels that should suffice to provide insights into the Yoruban culture. Available as deck only in flip-lid cardboard box, or as a deck-and-book set in large cardboard box.
