Tarot of the Elves (deck)

Designer(s), Artist(s): Davide Corsi, Mark McElroy
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2007
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
Colorful, if perhaps a bit sterile, CGI-style illustrations bring a Tolken-esque world to life in this deck that pays homage to one of the most beloved themes in the fantasy genre. Each of the minor arcana suits tells a complete mythological tale representative of the creators' concepts regarding tarot's larger lessons. Published by Lo Scarabeo, the cards lack titles throughout the deck -- an unusual twist from a company whose decks are usually littered with titles in a half-dozen languages.

Eros Oracle

Designer(s), Artist(s): Unknown
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 32
Publication Year: 2007
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
Vintage-style images that recall the parlor sybil decks of the 1920s decorate this erotically-themed 32-card oracle designed for answering "questions regarding relationships, romance, seduction, and sex." The card titles are provided in 5 languages, and rather oddly laid out, making for borders that seem to take up almost as much room as the main image itself. Still, the deck retains an old-fashioned feel that would likely appeal to a certain segment of querents.

Esoteric Ancient Tarots

Designer(s), Artist(s): Etteilla
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 1996
Publication Status: Out-of-Print

Description:
Historical reproduction of a reproduction of Etteilla's famous "Egyptian" tarot. Published by Lo Scarabeo in 1996, this deck reproduces an Etteilla deck published in Paris in 1870 (decades after Etteilla's death). All the major arcana are there -- just don't expect them to be in the "usual" order as a modern tarot deck. Giant, sequential numbers appear at the top and bottom of each card, along with keyword interpretations for both upright and reversed orientations.

Estensi Tarot - Golden Tarot of the Renaissance

Designer(s), Artist(s): Giordano Berti, Jo Dworkin
Country of Publication: Italy
Number of Cards: 78
Publication Year: 2004
Publication Status: In Print

Description:
The major arcana of this 78-card Lo Scarabeo deck are drawn from the illustrations of the so-called Charles VI Tarot. Artist Giodano Berti has interpreted and replaced the six cards missing from the original. The deck is then expanded to a full 78 cards, with Berti imagining what the minor arcana of such a deck might have looked like. The multi-lingual titles -- so prominent on many Lo Scarabeo decks -- are placed relatively unobtrusivley running up along the left-hand card borders.
